Trauma & Addiction
The Chinese character for crisis is a combination of two words — danger
and opportunity. People who fully engage in recovery from trauma and
addiction discover unexpected benefits. As we gradually heal our wounds,
people find themselves developing inner strength, compassion for others,
increasing self-awareness, and often the most surprising — a greater
ability to experience joy and serenity than ever before.
In the midst of trauma, it’s sometimes hard to remember that people’s
lives are about more than their trauma and that their spirit is often
greater than what has befallen them. In even the worst of circumstances,
there are opportunities to grow beyond the obstacles that beset people.
It is helpful for a person to have their resources recognized. Some
resources are inner ones.
Traumatized and addicted people need an anchor and a great deal of
support. Once you gather the courage to face your inner landscapes, you
will need someone you trust enough to accompany you. Someone that can
safely hold your feelings and help you listen to the painful emotions
you are carrying with you. You will need a guide that is not afraid of
your terror, and that can contain your rage. Feeling safe is a necessary
condition for you to confront your fears and anxieties.
Therapy is a collaborative process a mutual exploration of your self.
Feel free to get in touch, get support in person or virtually now with
